The Board of Directors of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce and The Ambassador Club of the Chamber are proud to honor Silver Maples of Chelsea with the 2016 Large Business Leadership Award. They have demonstrated leadership qualities in all of categories for this award and strive to be the best at all they do for our members and Chelsea.
Silver Maples is a locally owned, not-for-profit Senior Living Community. They are jointly sponsored by the Chelsea Area Wellness Foundation and United Methodist Retirement Communities.
Silver Maples opened in 1997. They have been the home for over 4,000 residents. The caring nurturing environment of Silver Maples extends to the entire Chelsea community. They are successful partners in numerous community collaborations, while providing truly exceptional services for their senior residents.
The campus of Silver Maples is first and foremost focused on their residents while they graciously open their doors to the community. They host many classes for the Adult Learners Institute, community arts and crafts events, community concerts and meeting space for many groups. They are one of most collaborative organizations in Chelsea. Programs developed with the Chelsea District Library and Chelsea Senior Center that are stimulating, creative and relevant to the residents and community members.
Silver Maples demonstrated innovative leadership by initiating the Chelsea Wellness Path project. This was a unique collaborative effort that involved 6 organizations. These paths surround the 17 ½ acres of their campus and are available for everyone to use. They sponsored an Eagle Scout project that culminated in the installation of resting benches along the pathways.
Among many other events, they lead the very successful Farm to Table dinner that brought together chefs, farmers, and volunteers from 5 communities to enjoy a delicious feast of healthy local food.
Silver Maples has been an active and supportive member of the Chamber since 1997. Julie Depner, CEO of Silver Maples currently is on the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
Strong community connections and collaborative partnerships with the Chelsea community demonstrate the Silver Maples “difference”.
